How to Survive After Breakup
Avoid overusing alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, coffee or food. Bet you don’t want to gain weight, lose sleep or feel worse and even more depressed. Even though it is very tempting having a couple of drinks or eating loads of chocolate and a quart of ice-cream, better try to cook healthy meals.
Eat healthy food. Speaking about food- don’t even dare to turn to high-calorie comfort foods. After a breakup it’s extremely important to make the healthy food choices. So make sure to include these to your diet:
- Salmon
- Whole-grain cereal
- Almonds
- Greek yogurt
- Dark chocolate
Exercise your troubles away. Exercising is a great option to increase endorphins after the breakup. Exercise at home, do some yoga, go to the gym or take booty dancing lessons. There is no room for excuses, do something active for at least 30 minutes a day. It’s not that hard anyway.
Get plenty of sleep. It’s understandable that you may have trouble sleeping. The ghosts of the past always come at night. So you have to exhaust your body during the day with different activities so that no alarming thoughts would appear before sleep. Also try to air your room, fresh air will help you to fall asleep faster. It’s extremely important to have a rest and sleep for 8 hours at least, bet you don’t want to look like a zombie when you finally meet your Mr. Right.
Consider breaking up as a new beginning. By and large, it must have been a good reason for the breakup. Explore some new activities and interests. Take the opportunity to focus on here-and-now, instead of dwelling on the past. Don’t even try to fool anyone with the phrase ‘I’ll never find someone better’, sure you will! Think positive, ‘cause finding an upgrade is just a matter of time.
Socializing with the right people is a must. Try to surround yourself with real friends and positive people, the ones who can give a descent advice and a comforting word. Smile and remember….Laughter has the power to brighten your mood instantly. Having new faces and personalities around you can accelerate in this process
Give yourself time. Of course it sounds like lame advice and an ultimate cliché, but time is really a great healer. Just wait awhile and eventually you’ll get through it. Remember this famous Sex and the City saying? “It takes half the amount of time you dated someone to get over them.” Give it a shot.
Make a list of your ex’s bad habits or traits that irritated you. Remember the times when he wasn’t very nice to you or treated you in a way you didn’t deserve? Delete his phone number and all the photos where you are happy together. Don’t hesitate and do it this very moment, immediately, right now! Ok, are you through with it? Well done, from now on focus on nothing but the present.
Feel your feelings. I know that your feelings after a breakup don’t have any sense, but who says they have to? What you feel now is not logical, but you don’t have to be ashamed of it, you can’t help feeling it any other way. Try to give yourself a break, it’s completely normal when you are longing for someone you loved, but don’t act on those feelings. Just accept them and move on.
