MOFED Tanzania Limited is a Freight and Forwarding service provider wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Zambia under the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications inlusaka Zambia. It is based in the Kurasini Area next to the Dock Yard in Dar es Salaam.
MOFED Tanzania Limited is hereby inviting applications from suitably qualified person to fill the vacant position of Yard Controller.
Job Summary:
Responsible for control of the movement of stored containers and trucks in the depot and physically supervise areas of loading and offloading various cargo and ensure equitable allocation of forklift and other heavy duty machines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To manage all yard activities and personnel as per the Operations Officer's instructions.
To ensure that all stock held within containers/storage warehouses; is stored correctly and securely at all times.
To ensure that all staffing issues are dealt with according to customer specifications. To ensure that work is done according to Company set standards and time frame.
Regulate the receipt and exit of all cargo, vehicles, containers in accordance to the set standard operating procedures (SOPS)
To establish that staff are all at required work allocations, at correct times.
To physically supervise areas of offloading and loading and ensure equitable allocation of machines to all areas of need.
To ensure that occupational health and safety are adhered to at all times. Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the operations officers.
Skills specification to the post:
Good communication and interpersonal skills accompanied with high ethical standards and diplomacy. Ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural environment is essential.
Must be a team player.
Qualification and Experience
Diploma in Port Management or Diploma in Clearing and Freight Forwarding. Five (5) years experience with any reputable organization.
Must be fluent in both English and Swahili.
Matured with sober mind.
Self motivated with high level of confidentiality.
Good knowledge of local business environment is essential. Experience with both ICD and CFS will be an added advantage.

Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS required;

To conduct regular risk based Audit of the Branch & submit report to the Audit Committee
To advise the Board of Directors on overall bank status with regard to internal controls and compliance.
To review the Bank's compliance to various Laws, statutory regulations and guidelines.
