kate and William are thrilled to welcome a baby boy into the royal family! His Royal Highness Prince of Cambridge was born on July 22 at 4:24 p.m. GMT weighing eight pounds, six ounces, and Prince William was present for the birth!

Kensington Palace released any official statement confirming the good news:

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.

Official Royal Baby Announcement To Be Posted At Buckingham Palace

Following the tradition set by his own mother, William and his wife, Kate, then officially announced the arrival of their little baby boy in grand fashion! An easel was placed at the gates of Buckingham Palace along with a royal declaration signed by the doctors who delivered the baby.

The announcement, which included the baby’s gender, was placed on a wood and gold easel that was used to make the official announcement was last used when Princess Diana gave birth to William in 1982. As for the baby’s name, that news “will be announced in due course,” according to Kensington Palace.
